Challenge:
Create an immersive, narrative-led escape-room experience that could be delivered as a physical product, combining engaging gameplay, clear user interaction, and a cohesive brand experience suitable for online retail and postal distribution.
Responsibilities:
Led the project from concept to production, developing the game narrative, puzzle mechanics, visual identity, packaging, and all supporting game materials. Managed prototyping, print production, and assembly considerations while ensuring the gameplay experience, brand presentation, and physical product worked cohesively as a complete customer experience.
As the first product developed for Crafty Escapes, this pirate-themed escape-room-in-a-box was designed to deliver an immersive, narrative-led experience within a physical retail product. I led the development of the game from concept through to production, creating the storyline, puzzle structure, user journey, and supporting game components. The design process involved balancing gameplay, usability, and manufacturing considerations while ensuring every element contributed to a cohesive player experience. From physical prototyping and print production to packaging and component design, the project demonstrates end-to-end product development and experience design within a consumer-facing entertainment product.
